Paul Lawrence

“Hope” for me began in the Spring of 2017, when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. My first reaction was “Wow, I have never been ill in my life.” My second reaction was to contact Dr. Daniel Bradford at the Highland Oncology Group, as he had treated my wife for ovarian cancer in 2005, and she has been cancer free since 2006.

My third reaction was to contact the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to have access to second opinion re:treatment. I was fortunate to be able to get an appointment with Dr. Kwon, one of the top urology doctors in the US.

Dr. Kwon and Dr. Bradford were both in sync with my treatment, monthly hormone shots, 7 months of chemo and 25 radiation treatments.

Prayers, friends, family and the great staff at the Mayo Clinic and HOG, gave me the encouragement and “hope” to battle my cancer. While going through treatment, I was introduced to the Hope Cancer Resources facility and the personnel there. They have been nothing short of amazing, as I have gone through this 3 year process.

Though I still take monthly shots, have 3-month check-ups and am on medication, it would not be as easy without HOG and Hope Cancer Resources.

The weekly dedication and encouragement by the Hope Cancer Resources wellness staff is amazing.
